Santa Barbara Updates!
May 03, 2007
Santa Barbara Updates!Hi Everybody, Jim Attebery here with some updates about the next Expo in Santa Barbara May 31st, and some other important information.
First of all make sure you get your hotel reservations made right away, especially if you want to stay in the Santa Ynez Marriott where the event takes place. There is always limited space available and they will definitely fill up so don't wait too long to reserve your room. Here is their contact info:
Santa Ynez Marriott website
Next, as you may know not long ago we added another special event to our Expos: The Wednesday night "Early Bird" meet and greet or "Expo Goes to Town" as we sometimes call it. It is a little gathering that we do the Wednesday night before each event, in this case Wednesday, May 30th.
It will be held at:
DARGANS IRISH PUB & RESTAURANT
We will be there from about 6-9pm. If you are in town early or are local, PLEASE come join us. It's always a lot of fun and gives us yet another chance to network and have a little one-on-one time with our many great musical friends!
Also, note below that the Nashville Showcase we offer the THIRD Monday of each month, hosted by the wonderful Amanda Williams and DurangoSong.com's mrJack (Jack Hayford), is MOVING back to the Blue Bar on Broadway beginning next Monday, May 7th. It kicks off at around 9pm and is ALWAYS a blast and a great place to showcase your songs. Lots of industry people, usually.
Of course we have a brilliant line-up of hit-songwriters, movers and shakers, and tunesmiths galore scheduled to appear in Wine Country. Our old friend Glen Phillips of Toad the Wet Sprocket fame has informed us that he'll be making a welcomed return visit. We expect to be able to announce some other very special surprise guests as we get closer to the event.
Once again, CONGRATULATIONS to Kelly Garrett (Country) and Richard Harris (Pop), winners in our 2007 Write with a Hit-Maker Songwriting Contest. They'll be on hand and will each get to WRITE with a hit songwriter! Very cool.
Remember, the Santa Barbara Expo May 31 - June 2, 2007 is coming right up! Better get registered!

Important News at DS.comHey Everybody, Jack Hayford here. After a three year experiment with making our Expo recordings available to Members via online subscription (Audio-on-Demand delivered by Live365 and Instant Audio) we've decided to make a few fundamental changes.
1. The good news is that we are reducing the annual subscription fee by over 50%. The new annual subscription rate is $12.97 instead of $29.97. This has already been implemented. For CURRENT MEMBERS who have already paid $29.97 for this year, we are offering a $25 credit towards the Santa Barbara Expo (May 31-June 2) OR we will extend your subscription to the Backstage Membership area by TWO EXTRA YEARS. You need to take no action if you aren't planning to attend the Santa Barbara Expo. Your subscription will be extended by our system. But if you want to take the $25 credit on the Expo Registration, please email email@example.com.
(Note: You may still see some references to the old price of $29.97 on a few pages that have yet to be updated, but you will see that $12.97 is actually the price on the Order Form.)
2. The reason we are making this change is that we are doing away with using Live365 Radio and all of our audios will be played using Instant Audio. We will no longer offer a Live365 radio station and play the music of our Members. We are streamlining the operation based on what we see as the needs of our Members and potential new members. Instant Audio gives more options to the listener without any player issues that sometime are a problem using Live365. Instant Audio is also less expensive for us...thus a reduction in price to listen to these great programs.
If you don't know what I'm talking about click on the link below and see Walt Aldridge's "Say Just What You Feel and Make it Rhyme." The little blue player is Instant Audio. All our programs will use this player soon.
We regret any inconvenience or disappointment this change may cause but all new businesses face adjustments as they evolve. We think this is a smart move and will allow us to provide even more programs for less money, resulting in a better deal for songwriters.
We've just added the Steve Dorff - Bobby Tomberlin Songwriting Workshop in the "Workshop" section in the Backstage. It's 57 minutes long and it's really good. Steve and Bobby definitely offered up some pearls at this workshop conducted at Santa Barbara in 2006.
More programs are coming soon, of course.
Thanks to ALL who support the Expo and DS.com. I'm looking forward to seeing you all in Wine Country!

Durango Writers Night in Nashville!IMPORTANT! Our Showcase Venue has Changed (again)!

Rack Room/Blue Bar
Email email@example.com if you would like to be added to the line-up. Thanks to all who come out to play, listen and support us!
What is DurangoSong.com?Not everyone can join us in Durango each year to be educated and inspired by our panelists and hit songwriters. But every songwriter can now have access to the next-best thing -- DurangoSong.com -- and benefit from many of the same resources provided each year at the Durango Songwriters Expo.
DS.com offers Members a chance to hear writers, publishers, producers, managers and executives who decide what songs and artists make it to the big leagues.
Annually, we record the EXPO Panel Discussions and make them available in our subscription-based DurangoSong.com Backstage. If you can't make it to the EXPO in person, you can still get the same information from our ever-growing library of recorded discussions, as well as songwriter interviews and other special features.
Got a Website? Special Request from the EXPO—If you've been marketing yourself and your music through a website, no doubt you already know the importance of "back-links" (how many websites, and their popularity, link to YOU) in gaining high search engine rankings and growing your traffic.
Let's help each other by exchanging links! (Our website is now in the top 10% of all sites on the web, ranked under 500,000 -- out of over 50 million. It will help increase your traffic and ranking to have a link to you from us!)
If you are interested in exchanging links, please link to:
Then send us an email with YOUR link either by using the Contact Us Form, or sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
