THANKS for another GREAT EXPO!

THANKS for another GREAT EXPO! (And Happy 4th of July!)

Hi Everybody, Jim Attebery here. On behalf of our entire organization I want to say a heart-felt THANK YOU to EVERYONE who took part in our recent (May 31 - June 2) Santa Barbara Wine Country Expo. It was one of our best ever...and that's saying a lot! The showcase talent was spectacular, the panels were awesome and the concert, well, here's what just one new "Expo-ite" had to say:

"I just wanted to thank you for an amazing experience in Buellton, CA...I was a songwriter expo virgin before I found out about Durango...I read about Durango in the Santa Barbara Independent and pulled the ad out, not knowing why or how I could afford to go or even if I belonged there amongst 'real songwriters'...It was the most incredible 3 days of meeting with people who I felt were part of my soul family. I felt so at home even though I know nothing about songwriting or the music industry. I was so impressed with the listening sessions and how utterly kind, respectful and supportive the industry people were and how talented so many people are. In an industry that is so select, I was overwhelemed with how much comraderie and genuine support and love was flowing in the house. The talks were awesome...The Saturday night concert was the best and most soulful work I will ever hear in my life, it blew me away the real talent of music, vs. what tends to show up on the radio..." --Alecia Evans

Can YOU afford NOT to take advantage of such a music conference? If you are an aspiring songwriter, definitely not. Even the most successful writers in the business (who are invited everywhere routinely)--Jeffrey Steele, Chuck Cannon, Al Anderson, Bob Dipiero, Brett James, Hillary Lindsey...(we could go on for a long long time)--mark "The Expo" down on their calendars. It's that important to THEM! Heck, Jeffrey Steele co-wrote his Montgomery Gentry smash "My Town" AT THE EXPO!

So if you haven't been...YOU HAVE TO GO! The good news is there's another one coming right up October 4 - 6 in a brand new location for us, the magnificent Esplendor Resort at Rico Rico (in southern Arizona near Tucson). Don't miss it!

More information and Registration Forms will be available soon on our website.

Jeffrey Steele's Festival in Honor of his Son Alex

A group of "Expo-ites" that included Jim Attebery, Jack Hayford, Jennifer Marciano, and a number of other Expo "regulars," attended Jeffrey Steele's first annual Alex LeVasseur Foundation Festival on Sunday June 24th in Franklin, TN.

It was an emotional family-oriented day of great music, food and fun. Jeffrey and his band were fantastic, as always. We were so glad to be able to give Jeff and his family some moral support during this difficult time.

What is

Not everyone can join us in Durango each year to be educated and inspired by our panelists and hit songwriters. But every songwriter can now have access to the next-best thing -- -- and benefit from many of the same resources provided each year at the Durango Songwriters Expo. offers Members a chance to hear writers, publishers, producers, managers and executives who decide what songs and artists make it to the big leagues.

Annually, we record the EXPO Panel Discussions and make them available in our subscription-based Backstage. If you can't make it to the EXPO in person, you can still get the same information from our ever-growing library of recorded discussions, as well as songwriter interviews and other special features.
