Ready for WINE COUNTRY?
January 30, 2009
|Are You Ready for Some WINE COUNTRY?
Less than 30 Days til EXPO WINE COUNTRY!
Hey Everybody, we're counting down to Wine Country 2009! It's getting pretty exciting around here! In preparing for every event, I never cease to be amazed at the quantity of talent The Expo is so fortunate to attract year after year! And for the fact that stellar singer/songwriter/performers like Al Anderson (WELCOME BACK BIG AL!) and Chuck Cannon are like part of the family and return over and over we are very thankful!
We cross the musical boundaries (if there are any anymore!). This year, back after almost ten years since his last Expo, the great Jim Lauderdale will be appearing. Jim has played a HUGE role in defining the very genre "Americana," has helped shape the excellent Americana Music Association (we're members, are you?) and has had (and is having) a brilliant career. Jim is a convincing champion for music lovers everywhere...and he is funny as heck to boot! Don't fail to introduce yourself to Jim Lauderdale at the Santa Ynez Expo Feburary 26-28.
And we are proud to announce that a Carter Family legend, Carlene Carter will be with us for the first time. (Carlene Carter is the daughter of June Carter Cash.) Our heritage grows richer with each Expo!
There are still great airfares out there into LAX and Burbank. This week, for instance, Southwest Airlines had fairs as low as $99. Frontier and USAir have also had some good rates. And, good news for the many that will be driving in from points all over, GAS PRICES ARE DOWN (a little higher in California than elsewhere, FYI).
If there is ANYTHING we can do to help you make the decision to come to the next Expo, or in making your plans, give me a call personally at 970-259-9747.
PS. The submissions for this year's "Write With A Hit-Maker" Contest (which ended January 19th) are fantastic and we will be announcing the winners very shortly. Special thanks to everyone who entered!
Oh, and our little meet and greet at SOhO in Santa Barbara Wednesday, February 25th has a time change. We'll be there from about 6-10pm. Chuck Cannon has been added to the bill! Wow! If you are in town on Wednesday, definitely try to come by...our little "pre-Expo" is always a lot of fun. —Jim Attebery

Amanda Williams to Host SB Open MicsHey all, mrJack here and I want to tell you what an extra special treat we have this year with Amanda Williams hosting the Open-Mic nites at the Expo. Amanda has hosted probably the best singer/songwriter night in Nashville for several years. And she has graciously co-hosted Durango Nights with me at her shows.
It will make our Open Mics this year a real party, with more fantastic live music...and a real feel for what we experience down here in Nashville with our many many Durango Expo-ites.
And, BTW, Amanda rocks!
Nashville ShowcaseNEXT SHOWCASE FEBRUARY 9th! If you are in Nashville, don't miss our monthly Durango Songwriters Expo night (the second Monday each month), starting at 8:00pm, at The Listening Room Cafe.
