Why WWAHM May Be More Important Than You Think!

Just a reminder that the entry period for our 2011-2 WWAHM Contest will end tomorrow night, September 18th, 2011. Public Voting will continue until Wednesday, September 21st at midnight CT.

Please remember that while the voting is not the deciding factor for winning our contest, getting in the TOP 10 (in any category) will get your song pushed ahead to the next judging phase.

There are a number of very qualified people listening to these songs -- Publishers and Music Supervisors mostly. Many times these industry listeners will hear songs in our contest that, while not being among the ultimate winners, are picked up for consideration or even a deal of some type.

You are exposing your songs to a group of pros that it would take you many trips to the Expo or to Nashville to get to pitch to, without WWAHM.

And entries into our contest (except for those that request not to be show publicly) will stay on our WWAHM website ( as part of our library of songs by independent artists available for licensing. It's a searchable song database that we will be promoting to industry contacts.

In addition, many of our reviewers will make comments on your song. Look for these comments as there may be some insights or ideas that can help you improve the song or improve your songwriting in general. A conversation with an important contact may develop.

There is also now a Buy Link field available on the entry form which allows you to offer your song for sale right from the WWAHM contest site. Ultimately will get a huge amount of music-centric traffic.

Each contest will reveal a new feature designed specifically to help you improve as a songwriter, meet other writers, and MAKE FANS. There will be more categories and prizes in the future as well.

Thank you to all who participate in Write With A Hit-Maker from The Durango Songwriters Expo. Surely some HUGE songs will be written by WWAHMERS with our Hit Songwriters...REMEMBER - the hit songwriters make the FINAL call on which song and songwriter interests them in co-writing...with YOU perhaps. They want to write a hit too! Good Luck!

"Your conference is impossible to beat! It's the best one around. I wish I could be there. I want to thank you again for the opportunity to write with Glen Phillips. We finished the song and are in the middle of passing it back and forth to record it. I'm thrilled with it and so happy to have had the opportunity to sit in a room with him. He's great...And you are great for making it happen!!"óbeth

DSE Note: Beth Thornley won the Pop category in the 2011-1 WWAHM contest and a co-write with our great friend and super talent Glen Phillips from Toad The Wet Sprocket fame!

YES! Glen Phillips will be appearing at the October 6-10 Expo!

"If I could only say one thing to describe the Durango Expo experience, it would be this. After being a professional writer for almost 20 years, it unfortunately gets harder and harder to be impressed by music in general. But at each Durango event Iíve attended, I had specific moments of listening to Artist showcases & Pro/Legends Writers rounds that gave me this old familiar feeling in my chest and reminded me of why I wanted to be a songwriter in the very beginning. That inspiration, for me, is worth everything." --Trina Harmon, Hit Songwriter and The Artist Coach
