Write With A Hit-Maker Contest Deadline 09.08.09!

Hey Everybody, Jim Attebery here with a few updates regarding our "Write With A Hit-Maker" Songwriting Contest and our upcoming Expo Oct. 8-10 in beautiful Colorado Springs, CO.

Because of the last minute change to our Expo (see below) venue and because our new online contest registration had a few glitches recently, we EXTENDED the deadline to enter the contest until midnight 09.08.09. We've had some great submissions already and I'd like to thank everyone who has participated. Our hit songwriters are gearing up to write with the winners...there's still time to enter!

When you make your reservations at the Doubletree (info below), make sure you mention that you are part of the DURANGO GROUP to get the special room rate reserved for us. Or, just click here to reserve your room.

As usual we have a pre-Expo "Meet and Greet" (and party!) planned for Wednesday October 7th (the day before the Expo), 6-8:30 PM. Our little get-together will be held at The Thirsty Parrot Bar and Grill in Colorado Springs. If you can come in a day early, this extra day of networking (and showcasing at the open mic!) is a good (and fun!) opportunity to spend time with Expo staff, industry pros and, of course, songwriters!

Our Next Expo is Oct 8-10th, 2009 in Colorado Springs, CO at the Doubletree World Arena Colorado Springs).

NOTE: THIS IS A LAST MINUTE CHANGE OF VENUE due to a scheduling conflict. If you have already made a reservation at the Marriott (original venue), your reservation has been changed to the Doubletree but your credit card information is not on file with the Doubletree. To avoid any availability issues, contact the Doubletree Colorado Springs immediately at 800.222.8733.

We apologize for the inconvenience and we assure you that the Expo will not miss a beat as a result of this change. The new location has beautiful rooms and they are actually $10 cheaper ($109 per nite) than the Marriott rooms. The Doubletree is everything we expect in location, amenities and service!

If you have any problems, call Jim Attebery directly at 970.259.9747.

Write With A Hit-Maker Contest Deadline Extended

Due to the last minute change of venue and because we have been experiencing a few problems with our new contest registration process, the deadline to submit to our contest has been extended until September 8th, 2009!

Register here.

West Coast Songwriters Conference

The 29th Annual West Coast Songwriters Music Conference is coming September 11-13 to Foothills College in Los Altos Hills, CA.

Each year WCS brings in an impressive line up of about 60 industry guests to screen songs, listen to developing artists and bands, teach seminars on vocalizing, recording, publishing, marketing, performing, etc. They call it Up Close and Personal because attendees interface directly with the guests, making contacts and developing relationships.

The guest list this year includes multi Grammy winning writer, producer and innovative artist Narada Michael Walden, renowned engineer and producer Enrique Gonzalez Muller (Dave Matthews, Kronos Quartet), cofounder of the Moody Blues, keyboardist and vocalist Mike Pinder, publisher and two time Grammy winner Robert Cutarella (Joss Stone and Eric Clapton), artist vocal coach Raz Kennedy (Adam Duritz, Bobby McFerrin), career builder and performance coach Steven Memel (Adam Levine-Maroon 5), multi gold and platinum record producer Scott Matthews and a long list of Nashville, Los Angeles and SF Bay Area publishers, producers, TV & Film placement companies, music lawyers and A&R reps.

Registration is now open at NARAS and partner songwriting organization members attend at WCS member prices.

For up to date developments on seminars and guests, sign up on the West Coast Songwriters myspace, facebook, twitter or meetup.

About Our Nashville Durango Nite

From mrJack: We very fortunate to have as our monthly Durango Nite host the very popular live music venue The Listening Room Cafe, located in Cummins Station. Owner Chris Blair and staff have made a fabulous new listening room (just as the name suggests!). Terrific people, sound, service, food, drinks and MUSIC!

The next Durango nite at The Listening Room is Monday, September 14th 8-10pm. (No Cover, $8 PER PERSON MINIMUM.) This month's show is our last before the Expo and we are having a REUNION show with "Expo-ites" from Nashville, touring performing songwriters, AND SPECIAL GUESTS. Don't miss it! It will be a BLAST!
