DSE Write With A Hit-Maker Contest Terms and Conditions

  1. ONE WINNER in EACH CATEGORY will be selected for COUNTRY - POP/ROCK - FILM/TV
  2. Winners will be selected based on the quality of the song(s) submitted.
  3. A maximum of TWO SONGS per category will be reviewed.
  4. Songs should be submitted by uploading directly to the form, along with a TYPED LYRIC SHEET for each song. There is a charge associated with entering your songs into the contest but you can start the form, save it, and return to it later, if necessary.
  5. Winners will be selected by a panel of music industry professionals who will make the FINAL decision.
  6. All song entries, along with payment, must be RECEIVED NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 17th, 2012.
  7. Winners will be selected and notified by FEBRUARY 24th, 2012.
  8. The winner in each category will receive free Registration in the 2012 Santa Ynez (CA) Durango Songwriters EXPO (a $299 value), MAR 1-3rd, 2012.
  9. The winner in the Country Category will write a song at the EXPO** with hit songwriter Bridgette Tatum. The winner in the Pop/Rock Category will write a song with hit songwriter Shawn Mullins. The winner in the Film/TV category will work with Riptide Music to obtain a placement.
  10. In addition, each winner's catalog (one CD) will be included in our second annual Film and TV Expo (May 17-19th, 2012) product bags which puts your songs literally in the hands of some of the top Film and TV Music Supervisors in the industry. (Each winner will need to provide 20-25 CDS of their material for the 2012 Film and TV Expo Supervisors.)
  11. THREE RUNNERS UP in each of the three categories will win HALF PRICE Expo Registration (a $150 value).
  12. Co-written songs MAY BE SUBMITTED. However the SONG is chosen as winner and therefore the prize(s) is awarded to the PERSON SUBMITTING TO THE CONTEST (completing and signing this form).
  13. This contest is open to anyone (with parental consent if a minor) who is currently NOT SIGNED TO A PUBLISHING COMPANY AND/OR RECORD COMPANY.
  14. Transportation to the EXPO, meals and lodging, are the responsibility of the participants.
  15. *FILM AND TV SUBMISSIONS MUST CONFORM TO THESE RULES
    **Extenuating circumstances may make this impossible (writing at the Expo).

    Durango/RipTide Music Song Contest Collaboration

    IMPORTANT NOTE FROM EXPO: The Film/TV category is different in concept from the other song contest categories. PRODUCTION QUALITY IS KEY IF YOU ARE SUBMITTING TO THIS CATEGORY. Note the submission policy below. "All submissions must be fully developed and produced as 'Master Quality' recordings to be considered."

    Submission Policy:

    1) Only original music will be considered, no samples, no covers or third party material allowed
    2) YOU MUST OWN ALL PUBLISHING AND MECHANICAL RIGHTS (or be able to quickly secure clearance) to songs entered.
    3) Winning entrant must attend the Durango Santa Ynez Expo (see #8 above)
    4) All submissions must be fully developed and produced as 'Master Quality' recordings to be considered
    5) The format for submission MUST BE MP3
    6) This category will be judged by Riptide Music

    Hi! I'm a bit confused about how winners are chosen. Is it by a panel of judges or public voting?

    What's with the "2011-2" numbering system?  Not rated yet
    Each year we have two WWAHM contests. Thus the 2011-2 refers to the second contest of last year, coinciding with our second Expo which generally takes ...

    How long does Public Voting last?  Not rated yet
    We generally allow Public Voting until a few days after the close of each contest. For WWAHM 2011-2, voting ends on Wednesday the 21st at Midnight PT.

    How long does it take for my songs to show up online?  Not rated yet
    Our system runs a necessary routine and updates the site about noon ET every day. So it can take up to 24 hours for your entries to show up on the Voting ...
