Moon Leaving A Building

by Dave C.
(USA)

Through the tinted window
The moonlight shines
The beauty of it’s white rays
Leave me blind
Cold and steel, the framing
Is holding tight
Lets me see the beauty
Every night

I hold on to the ledge
And I patiently wait for dawn
Although it is perfect
I don’t want it dark for long

As I watch from darkness
I slowly cry
I just wait for different signals
To pass my ears by
Washing down the liquored taste
Of alcohol
And even though the moon is there
I lean up against the wall

I hold on to the ledge
And I patiently wait for dawn
Although it is perfect
I don’t want it dark for long

When the moon continues downward
Every bird around me is heard
The footsteps growing lighter in my ears
I can hear the rumbled noises
I can hear the mumbled voices
The ones that gave me all this fear

The sun is shining onward
For hours more
And everything I look at
Is worn
The clouds are getting gray and
The ground is getting wetter
I realized that the moon was
Making it all better
