Long Past Time I Should Be Leaving

by Nicole Westerhouse

I think it's long past time I should be leaving
In leaving is the only time I could say that I've been moved
I guess I could just say the words without any real meaning
And masquerade those empty words as truths
But I don't want to do that to you
No I don't want to do that to you

I wrote down my confessions in a letter on a page
I hope you take to heart all it entails
I could have made believe to give you all the love you crave
And lead you blindly down that happy trail
But I don't want to do that to you
No I don't want to do that to you

Hey, maybe someday
You'll find a girl a little more your speed
And I pray, for your sake
That girl will give you everything you need
That girl just isn't me

So I think it's long past time I should be leaving
It's a shame to you that I even stayed and tried
With me still here, I fear that you will carry on believing
There's a fire in this heart left to ignite
When the fire long has died
And I don't want to do that to you
No I don't want to do that to you
