Lee Johnson is a singer, songwriter and guitarist in Boulder, Colorado, influenced by his roots in Country, Rock, Southern Rock, Blues, and Bluegrass, as well as other styles. Lee is currently focusing on songwriting for the Country markets with the main goal of getting songs placed with other artists, as well as Film/TV.
Lee has a background of performing for almost 20 years in various bands as well as a solo artist. Though involved in many CD projects as a hired guitarist/steel guitarist, Lee has not yet released a solo debut CD. His plans include possibly continuing later as a performing songwriter, but for now the focus is on writing, writing and also some more writing.
Lee has been a full time guitar instructor since 1995 and toured nationally with "Runaway Truck Ramp" 1998-2003. See Rolling Stone Mag Sept 1999 issue "150 bands that make up the soul of Saturday night."
Lee has had opportunities to open up for, and share stages with many great national acts such as Peter Rowan and Tony Rice, John Cowan of New Grass Revival, Leftover Salmon, String Cheese Incident, Yonder Mountain String band, Derek Trucks, and many other.
Lee earned BA's in Environmental Sciences 1987-1991 and Music and Sound Technology 1993-1995. Currently, Lee's main focus is crafting great songs. Lee considers songwriting his calling in life, and is in for the duration. He enjoys taking classes at NSAI, receiving pro critiques from NSAI, Taxi, SongU etc...and writing a ton of songs.
