Kofi Asante was born on 24th July 1987 in Accra to Mr. Asante's family but hails from Adansi Akrokerri in Obuasi. The Young Talented Ghanaian contemporary urban gospel singer/rapper,songwriter,presenter grew up in Kotobabi, a suburb of Accra in a family of five, two ladies and three guys,being the first male and the second born child.He had his earlier education at Jack and Jill International School at Roman Ridge in Accra, moved to EP Bethle Primary at Accra New Town, later moved to Kotobabi 11 Junior High and finally completed at Ofankor D/C Junior High School.
He had his Secondary education at Kumasi Technical Institute where he pursued Refrigeration and Airconditioning, Kofi has shown interest in music right from
his elementary primary school days, he was fond of singing
and drumming tables and head pans as means of musical instruments.Whiles in Kumasi schooling there he met couple of friends who were also into music,the journey of becoming a musician started from there for the young talented musician.
Years of struggling to penetrate through the music industry with his secular studio recorded demo songs proved futile,but he didn’t give up. While attending KTI, he performed at school organised shows and parties, as well as other regional competitions such as the Studafest musical competitions in Obuasi,Stars of the Future musical reality show organized by Charter House Production in 2008. He attended numerous music reality show auditions to no avail.Kofi decided to concentrate on his other cherish field which is broadcasting.
He later enrolled at Supreme Media Training College in Techiman, trained as a radio presenter, but his mother who is an evangelist was not in support of his interest of becoming a radio presenter, she initially opposed his decision to venture into broadcasting because she believes most media practitioners are womanizers and wouldn’t want him to follow suit, though Kofi was a church goer but was very much hopeful that if giving the opportunity in radio he will use it as a platform for the kingdom work someday.
Later moved to Atebebu for his attachment with Star FM,eventually secured a job at Word FM in Bolga in Northern Ghana. Currently working at A1 Radio as the host of the mid-morning show widely known on radio as Worshipper and also a product of College of Media Studies.
Kofi Asante is a member of the Leviticus singing choir at the Redemption Assemblies of God Church.
Baba God is his first single part of a full album titled ADONAI which exudes praises to the most High God for the transformation in his hitherto tainted life.
The danceable contemporary urban gospel song which has taken over the airwaves by storm is sung in a blend of Pidgin English and Twi.
The song tells the story of how he has been picked out of the gutter regardless of his iniquities and tainted past and been made a new creation to pursue the kingdom business, buttressing the point that everyone can also be touched by God.
The music admonishes individuals to be steadfast in the Lord for his mercies forever endures in the life of every human being adding that faith and believe in God’s word is the only recipe for living a better life.
