DURANGO SONGWRITERS EXPO/BOULDER-BROOMFIELD OCT 7-9 2010 OPENS WITH FREE SHOWCASE AT THE WALNUT ROOM ON WEDNESDAY, OCT 6, 6-10PM

The 2010 Durango Songwriters Expo opens with a free music showcase and meet-and-greet on Wednesday, October 6 at the popular Walnut Room located at 3131 Walnut Street in Denver.

The show will feature winners of recent DSE songwriting contests and professional hit songwriters, as well first-time expo attendees.

In addition to members of the local music community and press, the public is also invited to enjoy this free event.

The Durango Songwriters Expo, now in its 15th year, also announces its fantastic closing concert on Oct. 9, 2010, 7:00 PM at the beautiful Omni Interlocken Resort Hotel in Broomfield CO.

The highlight of the show will be a rare appearance by sixties icon and hit songwriter MELANIE of Woodstock fame and the #1 song (and controversial) "Brand New Key" ("I've got a brand new pair of rollerscates..."). Melanie's LAY DOWN (Candles In The Rain) WOODSTOCK was a landmark for the baby-boomer generation, paving the way for iconic female artists such as Judy Collins and Joni Mitchell to emerge as well.

Other featured performers include Shawn Mullins, NRBQ great Big Al Anderson, Chuck Cannon ("American Soldier" and many more hits for Toby Keith), Fastball's Tony Scalzo, Danny Myrick ("She's Country" - Jason Aldean's big recent hit), Keith Follese, Brice Long, and Walt Aldridge. Too many hits to name from this group of professional songsmiths.

Limited tickets may be purchased online by visiting the Durango Songwriters Expo website at www.durango-songwriters-expo.com or call 970.259.9747. If seats are still available, tickets may also be purchased at the door.

The Durango Songwriters Expo, held last year in Colorado Springs, is one of the nation’s premier singer/songwriter events featuring a combination of informative panel discussions with music industry professionals, listening sessions (pitch your song!), showcases, and open mics. With registration limited to just 200 attendees and more than 40 music-industry pros and hit songwriters, this rewarding expo provides unparalleled networking opportunities for the aspiring songwriter, manager, publisher or promoter.
