Cody Qualls Singer/Songwriter BIO
(Durango, Nashville, the Universe)
Cody Qualls is a singer-songwriter from Louisville, CO. His music and songwriting varies from soulful "Alt-Pop-Top 40" to "Urban Country" with undertones of RnB and hip hop stylings.
Westword Magazine reviews Qualls as “A voice that alternates between a feathery near falsetto and a Bible Belt bellow that’s beefy enough to make Meatloaf drool.”
In addition to his solo pursuits, Cody currently composes, arranges for and tours as a lead tenor with the national rock a capella ensemble “Face.”
Some of his current writing can be heard on Face's most recent album How Was the Show.
His original works with his rock ensemble “Kindred” were selected by Eddie Kramer, producer of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Kiss, Matchbox 20 and Carlos Santana to record some of the bands original works during his visit to the University of Colorado @ Denver.
During the sessions Kramer told the Denver Post, “I love the singer, I love the material, but most of all I love the attitude.”
In 2014 his release, "Pick Your Head Up," was selected as "runner-up" in the Durango Songwriting Expo's "Write With a Hit Maker" songwriting contest. Additionally, in 2015, his single "Focus On Your Rap Game" was named a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Contest.
Qualls' passion for singing started at a very young age and he began to perform professionally in his mid teens with Denver based alt-rock group Kindred.
Kindred has recently reunited as an acoustic act (2014) to record and perform new and previously unreleased material. The band members met in elementary school and have been writing music together for over 20 years.
The story of their friendship triumphing over the obstacles of personal struggle, addiction and "the industry" has only just begun to be told. They share a bond and connection that can only be described as Kindred.
Qualls is currently working with his production team to ready for the release of his upcoming EP Pick Your Head Up and Kindred's new EP The Return Volume I.
