Charleston Rose

Picked Rosie a bouquet
Yellow black eyed susie's
Grow'n wild on the shoulder
Of old river town road
She was go'n away
Wipe'n a tear from my face
Gave the wild flower bouquet
To my Charleston Rose

Charleston Rose
Southern bell beauty
Took a bouquet of susie's
I picked by the road
Wove them in her hair
Hair black as coal
Yellow bouquet of susie's
My Charleston Rose

Sat close by Rosie's side
Her hand hold'n mine
Softly beg'n her to stay
When she let my hand go
Now Rosie lies in a grave
Buried her yesterday
Wear'n the wild flower bouquet
My Charleston Rose
