A Nobody

by Faith Klimm
(Lincoln, Nebraska, USA)

Victims in disguise,
Bullied,
And portrayed as
An outcast.
They’ll be the last,
And in the underclass.
But in the past,
I was a social outcast.
Not popular.
Just a nobody…
Just a nobody,
No one liked.
No one liked me,
But now…
I am free.

They’re all around us.
Trying to be us,
But they went down-the drain
They went down the drain.
Into a hole, where there’s no escape.
Just running-in-dismay.

They wished they could just erase,
They’re past, present, and future.
They have nothing left to deal with,
Nothing to hold to,
To cling to.

But we can change it.
So let's not quit,
Let us be better than those before us.
Let's not become treacherous.

'Cause they’re all around us.
Trying to be us,
But they went down-the drain
They went down the drain.
Into a hole, where there’s no escape.
Just running-in-dismay.

No one should act like that.
Be scared, fearful of what might happen next.

They’re all around us.
Trying to be us,
But they went down-the drain
They went down the drain.
Into a hole, where there’s no escape.
Just running-in-dismay....
