Thanks for a Tremendous Park City Expo!
October 22, 2006
Greetings!

Thanks for a Tremendous Park City Expo!

Jim Attebery

Hi Everybody, this is Jim Attebery, co-founder of the Durango Songwriters EXPO. On behalf of our entire staff, I want to thank EVERYONE who helped make the 2006 (Oct 5-7) Park City, UT EXPO another unforgettable event! Our event coordinators did an INCREDIBLE job in making our first EXPO ever in Park City a tremendous success!

If you missed it, there's another chance to participate coming up the first week of June, 2007 in Santa Barbara / Santa Ynez, CA!

Stay tuned to this site and make sure you have signed up for our free Great Connections Newsletter so you will be first to receive all the news about our next event!

We look forward to seeing all our old friends and lots of new ones in the Santa Barbara Wine Country next June!!

PS. We will be making an announcement by early November about our next "Write with a Hit-Maker" Songwriting Contest. This year's contest will not only offer the winners in two categories (Pop and Country) the opportunity to write with a MAJOR hit songwriter, but the winners will get a SINGLE SONG PUBLISHING DEAL as well! Now, is that a cool idea?!

(We'll be covering the inspiring stories of last year's winners, Alissa Moreno and Felice Keller, in a future Great Connections.)

Durango Writers Night in Nashville!

Don't forget our monthly Durango Songwriters Night at the Blue Bar in Nashville. The next Expo night is Monday 11/20. Thanks to all our "Expo-ites" and DurangoSong.com Members who continue to make this a special night.

If you're in Nashville, COME ON DOWN to the Blue Bar on November 20th!

Email jack@durangosong.com if you would like to be added to the line-up. Thanks to all who come out to play, listen and support us!

What is DurangoSong.com?

Not everyone can join us in Durango each year to be educated and inspired by our panelists and hit songwriters. But every songwriter can now have access to the next-best thing- DurangoSong.com- and benefit from many of the same resources provided each year at the Durango Songwriter's Expo.

DS.com offers Members a chance to hear writers, publishers, producers, managers and executives who decide what songs and artists make it to the big leagues.

Annually, we record the EXPO Panel Discussions and make them available in our subscription-based DurangoSong.com Backstage. If you can't make it to the EXPO in person, you can still get the same information from our ever-growing library of recorded discussions, as well as songwriter interviews and other special features.

Check us out!

What's New at DurangoSong.com?

We've just added two terrific new programs in the DurangoSong. com Backstage:

Film & TV Publishing 2006 Panel Discussion
(Recorded Live at Durango Songwriters Expo - Santa Barbara 2006)
Mary Beth Maziars - Published Songwriter
Rich Goldman - Riptide Music (Los Angeles)
Steve Dorff - Hit Songwriter, Nine #1 Film Songs
Alissa Moreno - Published Songwriter
Frankie Pines - Veteran Music Supervisor
Mark Ferrari - Mastersource Film Library

and...

A&R 2006 Panel Discussion
(Recorded Live at Durango Songwriters Expo - Santa Barbara 2006)
Michael Laskow - Founder of Taxi (Los Angeles)
Tony Furguson - Interscope Records (Los Angeles)
Steve Smith - Aware Records
Kevin Williamson - Warner Records
Steve Melrose - Virgin Records
Marshall Altman - Independent Record Producer

Note: It is becoming increasingly clear to students of the songwriting "business" that Film and TV opportunites have grown considerably in recent years. A number of our EXPO "regulars," notably Alissa Moreno, Mary Beth Maziars and Beth Thornley have had a number of songs placed on TV shows and in indie films. The Film and TV panel discussions in the DS.com Backstage are extremely informative, if you want to know more about how to get songs placed with Music Supervisors.

FYI, there is a highly touted new book on the subject called Music Supervision— How to Get Your Songs Placed in TV and Films. For more info on the book, click here.

Got a Website? Special Request from the EXPO—

If you've been marketing yourself and your music through a website, no doubt you already know the importance of "back-links" (how many websites, and their popularity, link to YOU) in gaining high search engine rankings and growing your traffic.

Let's help each other! We are building an EXPO links page and we want to link to all of our friends and supporters. All we ask is for a link back to us!

If you are interested in exchanging links, please link to:
The Durango Songwriters Expo
http://www.durango-songwriters-expo.com

Then send us an email with YOUR link either by using the Contact Us Form, or sending an email to info@durangosong.com.

Thanks!
