Coming up on Asheville, NC May 29-31!

Hey everybody, Jim Attebery here with news about the upcoming Expo in Asheville, NC May 29-31, 2008.

As most of you know, after doing this event out west for the last 12 years, THIS is the Expo's FIRST EVER BACK EAST event! We're really excited to bring our great family of songwriters and industry folk to an audience that may have never been exposed to the Expo before. And we know what a GREAT music area that region has always been! WE will see and hear new things as well!

The Expo is going to take place at the beautiful Asheville Crowne Plaza Resort. For details about the hotel, click on their link, to reserve your room call: 800-733-3211 or the hotel direct line at 828-254-3211. (Be sure to mention that you are with the Durango Songwriters Expo so you will get our special group rate.)

To Register for the Asheville, NC Expo May 29-31!:
Click here to print out the Registration Form (PDF). If you cannot print out the form, contact us, and we will mail you the brochure. (Don't forget to give us your mailing address!)

Alternately you may see jpg images of the brochure here: PG 1 PG 2.

IMPORTANT: The EARLY BIRD DEADLINE (saves $50 on the cost of registration) is May 1st (see Registration Form for details).

If you have questions or problems, you can call me personally at 970-259-9747. Please, REGISTER EARLY if you can. Interest is very high for our first event back east and we expect a big turnout. Get your plans made as soon as possible!

Also, please note that air service into Asheville is pretty limited and pricey. Most people are opting to fly into either Nashville or Charlotte. Southwest has a lot of flights into Nashville and if you watch their website you can usually get a good deal from just about anywhere. Charlotte is a hub for USAir so if that airline is strong in your area, you might be better off flying into Charlotte.

Of course, many people will be driving over from Nashville and if you are interested in car pooling with someone, contact us and we will try to help you out.

Please make sure you sign up to receive our Great Connections Newsletter as this is how we will make our announcements regarding the Asheville, event. (There are always updates leading up to the Expo!)

This is your chance! Don't miss Asheville '08! Mindy Smith will be performing for the first time, as will Emerson Hart of Tonic. Sherri Austin will be back. Chuck Cannon will be back. Of course, LOTS MORE. As always, it will surely be a great time!

Finally, on behalf of my brother Bill and Jack Hayford and ALL of the staffers we have and have had over the years, I want to CONGRATULATE the many many people who can boast a real success story as a result of coming to our event. Sometimes we get so caught up in the NEXT event that we forget about all the good things that have happened for Expo-ites...and continue to happen: Great co-write relationships, song deals, publishing deals, record deals, even BIG HIT SONGS written right at the Expo...it's tremendously rewarding and inspiring for all of us.

We've just created a "Success Story" section where YOU can give us YOUR story. If you have one, even a small one, please LET US HEAR IT. Without them, we would have quit doing this thing a long time ago! Congrats again to everyone who has made something happen here...and THANKS for being part of the Expo family...and special thanks to Perry Smith for being the first to submit his story in this new section!

Welcome Emerson Hart!

Millions already appreciate former Tonic frontman Emerson Hart’s poignant lyrics, smart songcraft and evocative voice. Hart’s debut album, Cigarettes & Gasoline, was released in July 2007 on EMI/ Manhattan Records. The first single “If You’re Gonna Leave” from the album marks Hart’s return to mainstream radio debuting at 37 on the Hot AC chart on May 27, 2007. The 12-song debut disc was recorded in New Orleans and in his current hometown, Nashville, with producers Bob Rock (Metallica, Bon Jovi), who produced the final, Grammy-nominated Tonic record; Grammy-winner Jason Lehning (Guster, Steve Forbert), and Mike Napolitano (Squirrel Nut Zippers, Joseph Arthur). As lead singer for alt-rock radio and concert favorites Tonic, Hart enjoyed platinum sales, chart topping singles and albums--including the #1 hit “If You Could Only See”--and two Grammy nominations in 2003.

Don't miss this rare opportunity to see Emerson Hart in the intimate setting of the Durango Songwriters Expo!
