Expo Showcase in Nashville Monday 10.13

Hey Everybody, mrJack here. Beginning Monday Oct. 13th, 2008 I'm going to host a Durango Songwriters Showcase at the new Listening Room Cafe in NASHVILLE. (They moved from Franklin -- very cool already.)

This is definitely a fine listening room and a great alternative to the Bluebird and other showcase clubs. It shows well!

This show is not going to be an "open mic." We only have two hours and so we have to limit the number of performers. And we want it to be a high-level showcase where there will be only OUR people, good writers all, including some of the most successful in the biz, as well as Durango Expo up and comers.

It will give us a home, at least until the end of the year, and if it goes well we hope to keep it going...another reason to go to the Expo! It can be hard sometimes to get on a good showcase! We can showcase you in Nashville.

The Listening Room is located in the Cummins Station building at 209 10th Avenue South, Suite 200, Nashville, TN 37203 615.259.3600

Our booked shows are the SECOND MONDAY of each month: OCT 13th, NOV 10th, DEC 8th, 8-10 PM.

There is only a $5 cover charge. Please come check it out and help support the great talent offered up by the Expo!

Monday October 13th Performers:

LISA WITTY (NASHVILLE)
Durango Songwriters Expo veteran Lisa Witty could be heard in movie theaters across the country over the last year as her songs were played on movie satellite radio. Additionally her music has been featured recently in a number of TV shows including "Life" on NBC, "Felicity," "Everwood," and "Hello Sister, Goodbye Life."

AMELIA WHITE (NASHVILLE)
"The songs come out of me hard and heavy--regularly. They walk the line between Neo Folk, raw well made rock, and rootsy pop. They have a lot of heart, and a good dose of intellect, and every few songs have a political and social consciousness....sometimes you have to listen twice to get em, though some can easily grab hold of you like an old hank williams. Some call them Indie Country, some Americana, Some Folk Rock. To me they are the stories of my life and love and what I see in my friends eyes, strangers stories. They are miniature 3 and 1/2 minute films. Writing to music comes to me like breathing and or eating, and its as pleasurable upon completion as great sex."

SHERI MILLER (NY, NY)
"Well, I guess Iíd say my music is a 'sensual soundscape of hypnotic bluesy American soul meets classic British melodic-pop.' Hallelujah! Or people tell me I sound like Sheryl Crow, Fiona Apple, Bob Dylan, and The Beatle...so maybe I sound like 'Sheryl Apple Dylan Beatle.' Iíve been pretty lucky so far, and Iíve played on the stages of The Bowery Ballroom, Joe's Pub, Hotel Cafe, World Cafe Live, B.B. King's, The Bluebird Cafe, The Canal Room and The Living Room. I also just released my new debut EP, 'Mantra' recently and Iím really excited about that."

SONIA LEIGH (ATL, GA)
Sonia Leigh is a loaded pistol that'll go off in your face...and you'll love every minute of it. Hailing from Atlanta, Sonia and accompanist Levi are one of the best live acts we've seen anywhere...passionate, intelligent, beautiful and HIGH ENERGY. Music City execs will be there in droves...she is one to watch.
