CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

Hey Everybody, Jim Attebery here with the WINNERS of the 2009-2 "Write With A Hit-Maker" Songwriting Contest. Drum Roll Please....

COUNTRY CATEGORY FIRST PLACE - Scott Hunt for "It Gets Me Where I'm Going"!

POP CATEGORY FIRST PLACE - Mycle Wastman for "Keep on Lovin'"!

CONGRATULATIONS!

As usual, this was a very tough competition with a lot of great songs. Below are the also-in-the-runnings songs and writers for both categories. Truly, when it gets right down to the wire, there is little difference between these songs...yet our judges are put in the precarious position of picking a WINNER in each category.

COUNTRY:

Will Hopkins for "My Devil Does"
Joe Licktieg for "Plane I'm Gonna Miss"
TIE FOR THIRD between: Beth Wood for "Funeral Day" and
R. Mack Harrell for "Let Utah Burn"

Songs were so good we added a fourth runner-up:
Donna Valentine for "Shouldn't it Hurt More"

POP:

Mycle Wastman for "Love Isn't Easy" (YES! Two of Mycle's songs were picked for the top positions!)
Tracy Scharf for "Turn It over"
Leilah Hayman for "Missing An Angel"
and Athena Byrne for "Breathe"

CONGRATULATIONS ALL!

Watch for more updates about these songs and writers and remember, the Expo (see below) is just a couple of weeks away...make plans to attend NOW! THANK YOU to everyone who submitted their work to the "write With A Hit-Maker" Songwriting Contest, as part of the Durango Songwriters Expo!

Next Expo Oct 8-10 in Colorado Springs!

Hey Everybody, Jim Attebery here with a few reminders regarding our upcoming Expo Oct. 8-10 in beautiful Colorado Springs, CO.

To help inform area songwriters, we will be having a little get together on Wednesday, September 23rd (6:30-8:30PM) at The Thirsty Parrot Bar and Grill in Colorado Springs. Come by and learn more about this great 14 year songwriting event!

When you make your reservations at the Doubletree (info below), make sure you mention that you are part of the DURANGO GROUP to get the special room rate reserved for us. Or, just click here to reserve your room.

As usual we have a pre-Expo "Meet and Greet" (and party!) planned for Wednesday October 7th (the day before the Expo), 6-8:30 PM. Our little get-together will be held at The Thirsty Parrot Bar and Grill in Colorado Springs. If you can come in a day early, this extra day of networking (and showcasing at the open mic!) is a good (and fun!) opportunity to spend time with Expo staff, industry pros and, of course, songwriters!

Our Next Expo is Oct 8-10th, 2009 in Colorado Springs, CO at the Doubletree World Arena Colorado Springs).

NOTE: THIS IS A CHANGE OF VENUE due to a scheduling conflict. If you already made a reservation at the Marriott (original venue), your reservation has been changed to the Doubletree but your credit card information is not on file with the Doubletree. To avoid any availability issues, contact the Doubletree Colorado Springs immediately at 800.222.8733.

We apologize for the inconvenience and we assure you that the Expo will not miss a beat as a result of this change. The new location has beautiful rooms and they are actually $10 cheaper ($109 per nite) than the Marriott rooms. The Doubletree is everything we expect in location, amenities and service!

If you have any problems, call Jim Attebery directly at 970.259.9747.
